There are a number of different types of 3D glasses on the market with prices varying anywhere between £2 to £150. Why such a large variance in price? Well, each type of 3D TV Technology has its accompanying need for a pair of 3D glasses to match it and some even rely on remote devices to control each lense individually!
Some technology requires passive 3D glasses & some requires active 3D glasses which work in conjunction with a signal sent from the 3D TV. Third Dimension glasses aims to simplify how the technology works and provide you with the glasses you will need for each type of 3D TV. At the rate which the 3D market is developing it really won't be long before designer brands such as Oakley, Ray Ban and Guess are producing some of their own swanky designs!
Generally speaking... 3D Glasses can be separated into three types:
Active Shutter 3D Glasses – These are used in conjunction with 3D TV’s which use alternative frame sequencing.
Polarised 3D Glasses – This is the technology which was used in James Cameron’s Avatar and other recent cinematic releases such as Alice & Wonderland and Clash of the Titans.
Anagylph 3D Glasses – This is the older Red & Green type of 3D Glasses which won’t be used in 3D technology going forwards!
